Swimming fun!

Maddi had swimming lessons a couple weeks ago. We were supposed to be in the Mommy and Me class because Maddi wasn't 3 years old yet, but after being in the water for 10 minutes the teacher asked if I thought that she would be okay without me. So I said sure she can try being in the Preschool class. Well she loved being in class with just the other kids and her teachers. She had a little trouble the first day listening because she was just so excited to be in the water, but did really well after that.
Our big girl all ready for swim lessons
She was pretty fearless and would put her head under the water and pop back up. Everyone was shocked that she wasn't 3 yet and was so fearless. Well she wasn't 100% fearless because she refused to jump from the diving board, but she did jump off the edge into the big pool. They stayed in the wading pool most of the time and Maddi was at home. The night before she was so excited that she wore her swim suit while I cut her hair (don't worry we had a different one for her to wear during swim lessons).  She is growing up so fast and next week for her birthday we are going to celebrate with family and go swimming in Thermopolis. She can't wait!
I learned it is extremely hard to cut a 2 year olds hair, but thankfully she has curly hair and it hides a lot
She had to wait outside the pool while other kids in her class jumped from the diving board

They got a little free time every day and she loved the pool toys

Loving summer!!

A big thank you to our friends the Napiers. They unfortunately moved away and left us, but they were wonderful enough to trade some work for this wonderful swing set. Needless to say we have been spending a lot of time outside. Maddi loves it. We have even had some friends over to play with her. The days have been nice so the girls really like being outside, so that makes for some great pictures.
Love it when Marly wrinkles her nose

Old MacDonald had a farm.... and so does my dad

I am sure that I have mentioned that I grew up on a farm before. Well Maddi, Marly, and I were able to spend a little while visiting. This was about a month ago. I can't really remember why I think it was because Mitch was in Gillette or something like that and we were up visiting so we stayed for a whole week and another visit when my Grandma Monson was up for a few days. I am really embarrassed to say that I didn't get any pictures of her with the girls, but I think some of the other siblings were able to get a big group shot. Maddi loved being there and all the room to run as well as the chickens, turkey, sheep, and kitties. She loves cats and I am afraid one of these days she will love them to death. She tends to pick them up by the neck.
The turkey was so cool. It would sit down with its wings folded and let all the kids pet it. Maddi finally got brave enough and gave it a try. Here she is petting the turkey. Lots of fun!
